New Publication Entry

Getting Started

You will use this popup to enter or edit your entry on the Resources page. Once you have submitted your entry, a site administrator will be notified of this entry. The administrator will enable it and make it live at that time. If you have entered a valid e-mail account you will receive notification when this has happened.

In the upcoming dialogs you will see small help (help icon) buttons next to the field labels. Clicking on them or even hovering the cursor over them will provide specific help for the specific field.

If you see a star (*) next to the field label, that field is required and you will not be able to go forward until that field has valid input. If you see the background of a field go bright red it indicates the field does NOT have valid input. If you hover the mouse over that field you should be able to see the error message.

Click "Next" to proceed.

Resources

Resources can be used for lots of things but the most common for us is to generate a "News" page.  The main resource page has a list of entries that are typically organized in a latest at the top form.  Each entry has a list view (what you see below) and a full page view.  The full page view essentially dedicates an entire site page to the resource and can optionally be viewed as a popup.

Another feature is a "mini" list view that you could place on any other page on your site.   You can see this on the right.  Each entry in this mini-view shows a small thumbnail image along with the the title.  In this case it is configured such that when you hover your mouse over the entry it expands to show you the entire list content (same content you see on the equivalent entry below).

Resources also come with the optional user submit.  This happens to be enabled on this resource page so anyone visiting this site can submit an entry using the submit wizard.  All user submitted entries are queued up for approval by a site administrator.

We have found all sorts of uses for a resource page.  This can be used for example to highlight a group of people (say your board of directors).  For this, each entry represents a person on your board.  The list page (or even the mini-list page) shows these people at a glance but at the same time allowing you to dedicate an entire page to that person.  All this done very easily.

Entries can be easily turned on/off.  Let's say you have a board member on a temporary leave.  Just disable that entry for the duration of the leave and turn it back on at the end.

News entries can be automatically aged off.  You can set a time limit for all entries on a news page.  Once the age of entries on that page reach the pre-defined age they are automatically removed.  You can even enable the setting of an individual age.  You might normally keep news around for several months but some items may be meaningless after a certain date.

Oh, did you notice that "RSS Feed" above.  Resource entries can be listed on another site's feed reader.  You can have your news or whatever list on another site.
